About Us
The National Institute for Locomotor Disabilities (Divyangjan) erstwhile known as National Institute for the Orthopedically Handicapped (NIOH) is an apex organization in the area of locomotor disability, established in 1978. It is a premier institution amongst the top ranked college in the Physiotherapy/Occupational therapy and Prosthetic & Orthotic and functioning as an autonomous body under the Department of Disability Affairs, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. It is located in the city Kolkata and expanding its services whole countrywide. The Alumni association of NIOH (AANIOH) can take justifiable pride in that its fraternity has eminently contributed to the Hospitals, Govt. Departments, NGO, Civil Services, Academia, R&D activities and entrepreneurial ventures both in India & abroad.
Objectives
The objectives of the society are:
- To systematically uplift the image and status of the Institute, both nationally and internationally.
- To contribute towards the welfare of the alumni.
- To provide a forum to establish a link between the alumni, staff and students of the Institute.
- To Institute prizes and scholarships, and render financial aid to deserving students of the Institute.
- To keep the alumni abreast of scientific and technological developments of national and international importance.
- To help the Institute to organize national and international seminars/ congresses/ workshops conferences/symposia on selected topics to strengthen/share the knowledge base of students/alumni.
- To conduct / sponsor research and development projects.
- To enable the alumni to participate in activities, which would contribute to the general development of the Institute.
- To further such other aims as the General Body may decide from time to time.
